 | | | Laminate
Counters In spite of trendy alternatives, laminate continues to outsell all other countertop materials combined. Offering a greater selection of colors, patterns and finishes than any other type of surfacing material, laminate's dominance in the kitchen counter market is testimony to the product's timeless appeal. In economic terms, laminate counters can be replaced once or twice and still not equal the costs of other surfacing materials. J&W offers counters in Formica, Wilson Art, and other leading laminate brands.
Post-Formed (PF)
Post-formed counters represent the most popular (and economical) type of
kitchen counter. They feature a rolled edge construction available in European
roll, No-drip, Waterfall, and 180 Degree Wrap, Valencia, Barcelona, and Geneva
designs. (see edge profiles below) J&W's use of pre-fabricated “slabs" of
nominal lengths of 8', 10', and 12' reduces overall production time, hence
the cost savings. J&W has a large stock of slabs in a variety of colors
on-hand. This means that your order can be filled quickly.
Colors
Post-formed counters are available in a myriad of colors and patterns by Formica, Wilson Art and other leading laminate manufacturers. J&W presently stocks over 30 colors to ensure prompt service for the most popular No-drip edge designs. All
non-stock colors must be special ordered resulting in increased delivery
time. All Post-formed edge profiles other than No-drip must also be special ordered. Call a J&W sales representative for details.

drip bump.
|
 |
 |
- European Roll
European Roll
provides a contemporary styling with softer flowing lines that are an
excellent match for European cabinet designs.
|
 |

appearance.
|

Options
There are numerous options with regard to counter top construction. Some are
design amenities such as end splashes, aprons and radius corners. Others such
as out of square miters and sink cut outs are integral to a specific installation.
All add to the counter’s total cost. Here are explanations of some of
the common amenity options for counter tops. Contact a J&W sales representative
for additional information.
- End splash: Creates a continuation of the backsplash on the wall-end
of a counter.
- Apron: A vertical section of counter that hangs below the front and/or
side perimeter.
- Diagonal Corner (w/shelf): L-shaped counters only. Creates a shelf
across the back of the counter that connects the L.
- Range Cut-out: Creates space in counter for installation of a cooktop/range
- Self-rimming Sink Cut-out: Creates space in counter for installation
of a self-rimming sink.
- Under-mount Sink Cut-out: Creates space in counter for installation
of under-mount sink–eliminates exposed rim of traditional
self-rimming sink application.
- Arc (2”, 3”, 4” or 6”): Available on island tops
only. Arcs create a round (horizontal) contour to a counter’s
finished end.
- Full Radius: Similar to an arc, only the full radius creates and arc
whose dimensions are relative to the counter’s
width. Available on island tops only.
- Radius Corners: Provide rounded (soft) corners to a counter’s
finished end.
Sizes
(cabinet depth + overhang)
- 22" vanity
- 25" standard
- 18, 26, 27, 30, 36, 44" double roll
Edge Veneer (EV)
Edge
veneer counters reflect a minimalist styling that has captured the imagination
of kitchen designers for generations. With classic black outlines and angular
contours, edge veneer construction paved the way for the modern laminate era.
It continues to be an especially popular choice for desks, tables, breakfast
bars and reception counters (lobbies, etc.). Each Edge Veneer counter is constructed
by one of our expert craftsmen with an attention to detail that has defined
J&W's
reputation for quality for over 40 years. Built from a particle board substrate
and sheet laminate, Edge veneer construction offers the greatest flexibility
in design application.
Colors
Edge veneer counters are available in a myriad of colors and patterns by Formica,
Wilson Art and other leading laminate manufacturers. Call a J&W sales representative
for an up-to- date listing of colors in stock. All non-stock colors must be
special ordered resulting in increased delivery time.

This profile features a square front and top of backsplash. One interesting
design option is to use a different color of laminate for these
surfaces.

- Laminate Bevel Edge
This profile features a 45 degree bevel on the counter's front edge and top of
the backsplash. This also allows for a second color (ribbon) to be added to
the counter's edge.

- Wood Edge
These profiles are a design concept first perfected for regional
mass production by J&W. With two profiles under copyright -
Designer’s
Edge & Diamond
Edge - J&W has established itself as a leading proponent of the
design. Numerous variations on wood edge profiles are now available for
the front edge
and top of backsplash. By staining the wood edge to match the cabinets,
a unity of design is created that has maintained a ubiquitous appeal for
traditionally
styled installations.

Post-formed Edge Veneer (PFEV)
Post-formed Edge Veneer counters offer the classic simplicity of the square edge design with an easy-to- clean rolled cove feature. As this design construction involves the use of pre-fabricated slabs, it creates an economical alternative to Edge Veneer construction.
